This coachbuilder pack contains a set of parts to aid the construction of a light railway 4-wheel brake coach in O gauge / 7mm scale standard gauge.
My coachbuilder packs offer something partway between scratch building and kit building, a basic kit of parts aimed at giving the builder a good head start. If you enjoy building your own rolling stock, don’t mind a bit of work and maybe have a good spares box, a coachbuilder pack should be quicker than scratch building and an economical alternative to the conventional complete kits. The detailed cast resin parts assemble easily with superglue or general-purpose adhesive. The basic model can then be detailed by the builder according to their preferences.
The pack contains detailed cast resin parts that simply glue together to enable a
quick assembly of the coach body and underframe.
This freelance 4 wheel brake composite coach from my own designs, makes an ideal vehicle for light railway layouts, rural branch lines, industrial layouts or for use as mess coaches in works trains. Many pre-grouping companies used stock of very similar designs, so when its painted up in your favourite livery, many people will struggle to know difference! A brake composite is the perfect one coach train for light railway operation.
After assembling the parts provided the builder is required to fabricate a simple floor, and partitions. A cast resin chassis / underframe is included with this pack. This is supplied as a dummy, intended to conceal one of the commercial etched brass compensation units that are widely used in this scale. Alternatively it can be set up with fixed axles by drilling the axle boxes to accept brass top hat bearings (not supplied).
The photographs show the parts you will receive plus some images of a sample model to show how a finished vehicle could look with additional detailing parts.
