7mm Narrow Gauge 0-16.5

Although not all complete kits, the Coachbuilder series of component packs offers the keen model builder a good head start over starting from scratch, as well as an economical alternative to a conventional kit.

The packs are in cast resin and offer highly detailed sides and ends, taking out much of the hard work associated with traditional scratch building.

4 Wheel Brake Coach Body Only Kit - pack of 5 parts (including roof)

This set of detailed parts has been produced from my own CAD assisted master pattern and moulds. The cast resin sides feature full body panelling, droplights, door ventilators and hinges, allowing the builder to rapidly assemble the coach body using just superglue or a general purpose adhesive.
The builder is just required to fabricate a simple floor and an internal partition. A pre-formed plain styrene roof section is also included.

When assembled, the body has been designed to conceal a RTR underframe (not included). Alternatively an etched brass unit could be used by those wishing to add compensation or model a narrower gauge.

As with all my coachbuilder packs, this pack offers something between scratch building and kit building, taking out the tedious work of producing panelled coach sides from scratch, whilst being cheaper that conventional kits and with the added flexibility of allowing the builder to finish and detail as they wish.

For anyone who enjoys building their own vehicles and doesn't mind doing a bit of work, this pack offers a quick and economical way to build up their rolling stock collection.

Finished body size is 92mm x 38mm (46mm over duckets).

The photographs show the parts you will receive, and a test built & detailed body, placed on a chassis to illustrate the shape of a completed vehicle.

This vehicle is designed to compliment the 4 wheel third coach.

4 Wheel 3rd Coach Body Only Kit - pack of 5 parts (including roof)

This set of detailed parts has been produced from my own CAD assisted master pattern and moulds. The cast resin sides feature full body panelling, droplights, door ventilators and hinges, allowing rapid assembly of the coach body using just superglue or a general purpose adhesive.  The builder is just required to fabricate a simple floor, and an internal partition. A styrene roof section is also now included.

The body has been designed to conceal a RTR chassis, the vehicle in the photographs uses a Hornby OO gauge coach chassis for simple 0-16.5 operation, but a wagon chassis would also be suitable. For modellers of 14mm gauge, an etched brass chassis could be substituted.

Finished body size is 92mm x 38mm.

The photographs show the white resin parts you will receive, the parts assembled into the basic white coach body, plus examples of completed vehicles in different liveries to illustrate how a finished model could look. A brake coach and luggage van to compliment this vehicle is also available.

4 Wheel Luggage Van Body Only Kit - pack of 5 parts (including roof)

The body of this van has been designed to conceal readily available RTR OO gauge chassis making it a very straightforward project for an 0-16.5 layout. Alternatively the builder could use a white metal or brass chassis which would allow variation in gauge, such as 14mm to represent a prototypical 2 foot gauge.

The photographs show the parts you will receive, plus a test build that has been painted and finished with door handles and roof furniture (not included).

The dimensions of the assembled body as shown in the photographs is approx. 92mm x 37mm.

Ashover Light Railway Coach kit

These attractive and highly distinctive vehicles were built by the Gloucester Carriage works in 1925 for the newly formed Ashover Light Railway, built by The Clay Cross Company. The design was a Gloucester built body mounted on second hand WD bogies from WW1 service.

This kit represents a step up from my previous scratch aid Coachbuilder packs, and is much closer to a conventional kit.The kit contains all the main parts necessary to construct a basic  model as shown in the photographs, whilst allowing the builder to complete the final detailing as they wish.

The detailed resin parts have been created from my own masters and moulds. The resin works easily with common modelling tools, parts glue together with superglue and paint well with any good quality modelling paint. Instructions giving guidance for construction are included. For anyone with experience of rolling stock construction this kit represents a relatively quick and straightforward build.

The kit comprises the following parts: Coach sides and ends, internal partitions, underframe and headstocks, bogies. A styrene roof and floor section is included together with a 3D printed hand brake wheels. The builder just needs to fabricate external step boards and fit glazing. Handles, grab rails, roof ventilators, wheels and couplings will be required to complete.  The bogie castings are designed to allow for the fitting of NEM  couplers and require 16.5mm gauge, 8mm diameter wheels.

The photographs show the parts you will receive, plus a completed test build illustrating how a completed model could look.

Goods Brake Van pack of parts including roof

This brake van is a freelance design intended to reflect the common features of this kind of vehicle.

The sides and ends feature planking and bolt detail together with the characteristic outside framing so typical of late Victorian goods vehicle design. The pack includes two side castings with doorways at both ends, and two end castings with twin windows. The van can then be constructed as two variants. One with the duckets as shown creating a van with doors at just one end, or as an alternative, constructed without the duckets but with doors at each end. A pair of duckets is included, together with a preformed plain styrene roof section.

The parts glue together easily with superglue enabling the rapid construction of the body shell. The builder is only required to fabricate a simple floor from styrene card or similar and source a suitable chassis. The body is designed to conceal a ready to run OO gauge chassis, or alternatively and etched brass compensated unit could be used. The photographs show the parts you will receive together with a test build in white and a painted sample to illustrate what the final vehicle could look like when finished and detailed. This sample model uses a Hornby brake van chassis with extended foot boards.

The finished body dimensions are approx. 92mm x 42mm (excluding duckets)
